Tree surgeon faces quiz on wife’s death

- BY ADAM ASPINALL

POLICE are waiting to question a tree surgeon over the death of his wife at their home yesterday.

Andrew Tavener, 45, was found seriously injured on nearby railway tracks 15 minutes after paramedics discovered Claire’s body.

The 27-year-old, who worked in a local pub, was declared dead at the family home in Nailsea, Somerset.

Avon and Somerset Police said her husband suffered “life-changing” injuries and would be quizzed when he is released from hospital.

Neighbours said the couple, who married in 2013, held a New Year’s Eve party at their house.

One, Tony Esposito, 38, added: “There was no sign of problems. They are a nice couple. It’s shocking. ”
