CURFEW FOR ODI PLAYERS

- DEAN WILSON

ENGLAND’S white-ball cricketers have been ordered to obey the same midnight curfew as the Test side.

Skipper Eoin Morgan (above) is understood to support the decision after speaking with coach Trevor Bayliss and ECB Chief Executive Tom Harrison, who is handling much of Andrew Strauss’s work while the director of cricket is off. The squad have been told they must be back in their team hotel by midnight even after the conclusion of day/night games that can finish late.

There is no alcohol ban, but they must drink in the safety of the team hotel. Alex Hales (above) is rejoining the squad after his involvement in a night out in Bristol in September, when he was with Ben Stokes at 2.35am after going drinking in the middle of a one-day series.

Jonny Bairstow, Jake Ball and Liam Plunkett have also been included in the upcoming series and were fined last summer for unprofessional conduct as part of the one-day squad.
