Iran schools block English

IRAN has banned English lessons in primary schools.

Education chiefs called it a “cultural invasion” and said they wanted instead to “strengthen Persian language skills and Iranian Islamic culture”.

The Supreme Education Council said foreign languages were not recommended at primary level.

English and other languages can be taught in secondaries from age 12.
