PHILLIP Schofield and Holly Willoughby may be inseparable on the sofa, but something has come between them... a gong.

The hosts of This Morning have been pitted against each other on the National Television Awards for the first time.

They have both been nominated for Best Presenter, an honour that has been scooped by Ant and Dec for the past 15 years.

Phillip, 55, said: “It could be a tense few weeks ahead for Holly and me. We’ve both found ourselves nominated in the same category at this year’s National Television Awards.

“We’ve both been shortlisted for this year’s ‘Ant and Dec Award’.” And 36-year-old Holly added: “It’s so nice to be nominated.” The pair are up against Ant and Dec, naturally, and The Chase’s Bradley Walsh. This Morning editor Martin Frizell said: “We are really proud that Phillip and Holly are nominated individually as Best Presenter. They are the best in the business but don’t ask us to choose, that’s like having to decide which of your children you love the most.” The ITV show, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this autumn, is nominated for the Best Daytime show, which it has won for seven years in a row. The NTA will be broadcast live by ITV from the O2 London on January 23.
