The world’s longest, deadliest treasure hunt
Buried treasure, underground booby traps and deaths. Remarkably, this isn’t the plot of a Hollywood blockbuster – it’s the true story of Oak Island, site of the world’s longest, deadliest and most expensive treasure hunt.
Lying just off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada, legend has it that pirate Captain Kidd buried his ill-gotten gains here.
MACABRE A macabre tale says that seven people must die in pursuit of the loot before Oak Island will reveal her secrets. So far, the body count is six as bounty hunters have spent more than 220 years trying to strike it rich.
Enter Rick and Marty Lagina, brothers from Michigan who have bought the rights to much of the island to try to solve the mystery. Their story is being told in HISTORY’s series The Curse of Oak Island.
But will they avoid the curse and find the treasure before they run out of money – or worse?
