- BY MARK JEFFERIES Showbiz Editor

THE BBC had the most-watched TV programme of 2017, as Blue Planet II pulled in 14 million viewers.

The chart-topping episode included dramatic footage of walruses fighting, along with scenes of surfing dolphins and a sexchanging fish.

Second place also went to the BBC, thanks to the 13 million people who watched the final of Strictly Come Dancing. Close behind was ITV’s I’m a Celebrity... with 12.7 million tuning in for the launch episode. ITV’s Broadchurch was the most popular drama, with the last episode of the David Tennant-fronted thriller watched by 11.6 million. Channel 4 did not make the top 40, but the The Great British Bake Off final was watched by 10 million – the fourth biggest audience in the channel’s 35-year history.
