Yes, you CAN give up booze

STOPPING drinking might seem impossible, no matter how much you feel you’ve overindulg­ed at Christmas and New Year.

And it’s always during this month we pledge to abstain for Dry January. Perhaps you’ve been motivated to go alcohol-free for charity, or you just want to quietly take a break to prove that you can.

These fabulous tips from new book The 28 Day Alcohol-Free Challenge by Andy Ramage and Ruari Fairbairns could help you to kick the habit this month – or even longer!

At the end of this challenge, you’ll be able to look in the mirror knowing you have experience­d life without alcohol. Then you can decide if you want to continue, drink occasional­ly in control or never drink again.

Before you start, do two things: 1. Take a photo of what you look like now. Keep it so you can refer to it in a few weeks to see the difference in your eyes, face and body. 2. Fill out our progress tracker. Give yourself a rating out of 10 for each category, one being a poor rating and 10 being amazing.

Fill it out once a week until the end so you can see how far you’ve come.
