Labour looking set to expel Hopkins over sex pest claim
LABOUR MP Kelvin Hopkins faces expulsion from the party after claims of sexual misconduct were referred to the National Constitutional Committee.
Hopkins, 76, is accused of sending inappropriate texts to party activist Ava Etemadzadeh, 27.
She said Mr Hopkins had also “hugged me to say goodbye, held me too tight and rubbed his crotch on me, which I found revolting”. He has admitted sending her a text saying she was a “lovely young woman”. The message went on: “A nice young man would be lucky to have you as a girlfriend and lover.” Mr Hopkins denied his behaviour was inappropriate, but the NCC could expel him after the case was referred up by the National Executive Committee. Ms Etemadzadeh said: “I cautiously welcome the fact my case is finally being heard.”
