A TWISTED nurse who plotted to rape, dismember and eat a girl of 14 has fled to the US after being released from prison, but local police said they were given no warning.
Dale Bolinger, known as the Canterbury Cannibal, has sparked panic in Blair, Nebraska, after moving to the tiny rural city on January 4.
The fiend, 62, who listed his interests online as “cannibalism, mainly hunting and preparation of young but sometimes not so young women”, served half of a nine-year sentence for sex offences.
Washington County Sheriff Mike Robinson said he received an email from the State Patrol that a registered sex offender was moving to the area but was not told about his past.
He then received a tip-off urging him to look further into Bolinger’s convictions. The officer said: “We did and that’s when we found out about his past – it was very concerning. We don’t know why we weren’t notified.
“Why wasn’t he directed to register directly here so we would have a little better understanding of his past? We don’t know – we don’t have any answers yet.”
Bolinger’s trial in 2014 heard he met a girl called “Eva” on the Dark Fetish Network website.
He bought an axe the day before he was due to meet her at Ashford train station in Kent, but she did not turn up as planned.

uncovered by FBI agents, who found him chatting on the internet about rape, murder and cannibalism.
On his arrest, he told police he had fantasised about eating people since the age of six.
He was convicted at Canterbury crown court of attempting to groom a child for sexual purposes, possessing obscene pictures of children and writing obscene articles.
Bolinger, who has American citizenship as his father served in the US Air Force, was staying at a friend’s house on moving to Blair.
But it emerged last night he was kicked out after his hosts learned of the enormity of his crimes. The homeowner told the Daily Mirror: “I didn’t want to be caught up in the maelstrom.
“He was only here a couple of days to get back on his feet. He’s now dealing with the police about where he can stay. “He is an associate of my wife.” An angry local, who asked not to be named, said: “Why would anyone bring such a person into our community.
“Many of us have children. He should not be allowed around them.”
One of Bolinger’s victims has also spoken of her horror that he is now free.
Mum-of-four Urlene King said her former pal tried to suffocate her with a rag soaked in cleaning fluid at his home in Brockley, South London, in 2010.
But she managed to escape, fearing she “could have ended up as his dinner”.
Urlene said: “I’m completely dumbfounded. How is he out already? I hope to god he doesn’t come back round here.”
Bolinger admitted trying to poison Urlene before his trial.
