Fergie Jnr shot down
DARREN FERGUSON faces FA action despite yesterday apologising for calling for referees to be “shot”.
The Doncaster manager, son of Sir Alex, let rip after his side’s 1-1 draw at home to Plymouth when he also branded officials appalling and said their fitness levels were “disgraceful”.
Backtracking yesterday, Fergie Jnr said: “Although clear to everyone in the room that my comments were tongue in cheek, it is worth clarifying they were borne out of frustration and I absolutely do not advocate violence against officials.
“I am sorry for that comment and regret the wording. Referees have a tough job and I have a lot of respect for the challenges they face.”
