MARCELO: NOW IT’S A REAL MESS

- BY IAN BAKER

REAL MADRID defender Marcelo believes his side are “sinking” after their shock 1-0 home defeat to Villarreal.

The Spanish giants are well adrift in fourth place and the pressure is on boss Zinedine Zidane after Pablo Fornals’ late chip.

Marcelo said: “It is one of the worst situations I’ve experienced here.

“We’re trying to play good football, to move the ball around and score goals but it’s not coming off.

“It is how it looks from the outside. We are sad, angry and we feel like we are sinking.”

And midfielder Toni Kroos admitted: “We have to focus on qualifying for next season’s Champions League. This should be our goal – 16 points is very far behind Barcelona and it’s not the moment to think about anything other than the next game.”

Sevilla were also shocked as they went down to a 1-0 loss at Alaves thanks to Manu Garcia’s goal.

Spartak Moscow’s black players insist there is no racism at the club despite a video of them training in Dubai appeared under the message “chocolates melting in the sun” on the Russian side’s official Twitter account.

The original film was made by Georgi Dzhikiya but in a new video Luiz Adriano said: “I love you my friend, you are my brother and a club legend. There’s no racism at Spartak.”

Midfielder Fernando and winger Pedro Rocha then repeated the message: “There is no racism at Spartak.”

But FIFA said in a statement: “We condemn the message published on the Twitter account of Spartak Moscow. Any form of discrimination is unacceptable and has no place in football.”
