‘Gin heir hit mother, 95’

THE heir to the Gilbey gin empire is accused of assaulting his 95-year-old mother at her mansion.

Sir Walter Gavin Gilbey, 68, says Lady Elizabeth Gilbey fell over and he will fight the case next month.

Gilbey, of Dornach in the Scottish Highlands, is accused of assaulting Lady Elizabeth at her £950,000 property in Pulborough, West Sussex.

A trial date of February 9 was set at Crawley magistrates court.

Gilbey is the 4th Baronet of The Gilbey Baronetcy, of Elsenham Hall, Essex.
