Chief ‘hurled stress ball at a junior cop’
HEARING Matthew Horne A POLICE chief threw a stress ball at a colleague’s throat, a misconduct panel heard yesterday.
Essex Deputy Chief Constable Matthew Horne allegedly lashed out at Chief Supt Carl O’Malley during a “professional disagreement” in his office.
Stephen Morley, for the force, said the blow hurt and left a red mark.
Horne, 47, also allegedly swore at colleagues during two other incidents, calling one a “f***ing c**t”.
Mr Morley said: “Nobody coming to work for Essex Police should have to fear this sort of behaviour.
“Senior officers treating junior officers in this way is not suitable.”
Horne denies three cases of gross misconduct.
