Menopause stroke risk
Roses’ Ian in drive ban
STONE Roses singer Ian Brown was given a six-month driving ban after being caught speeding for the fourth times in three years.
Brown had been going at more than 70mph in his Lexus, Warrington magistrates were told. He was fined £660 and told to pay £100 costs. The pop star, 54, had escaped a ban in 2016, despite having 12 points on his licence, by saying he needed his car to do shopping for his elderly parents.
Brown, of Lymm, Cheshire, got a three-month ban in 2011 after doing 93mph in a 40mph zone. WOMEN who go through the menopause before the age of 47 are at higher risk of heart disease and stroke, research has shown.
University of Oxford found a 33% greater risk of cardiovascular disease, rising to 42% for stroke, in a study of 267,000 women. Those who had periods before the age of 12 were at 10% greater risk.
Having a hysterectomy or stillbirth was also linked with a higher risk of heart disease and stroke.
The study, in the journal Heart, found two thirds of women had gone through menopause by 50.
