Tory caught napping at Bill reading
A TORY MP has apologised after being caught napping during a debate on the EU Withdrawal Bill.
Sir Desmond Swayne was snapped slumped over and with his eyes shut as veteran Tory Europhile Ken Clarke spoke.
Only when Mr Clarke loudly said “Err!” did he lift his head again.
He later fiddled with his phone and stared contemplatively into the middle distance.
Sir Desmond blamed an early swim in the Serpentine in Hyde Park, London.
He told the Mirror: “I fell asleep. No excuse. Ken was very gracious about it. I apologise unreservedly.”
