Don’t give me a speeding ban... I might get dumped
A LORRY driver told a court he “might not have a girlfriend” if he lost his licence for speeding.
Jordan Cassidy, 24, faced a ban after being caught over the limit a fourth time. He had nine points on his licence, three due to expire.
Pleading to be spared, he said: “If I can’t drive then I’ll lose my job.
“My outgoings are the mortgage on my girlfriend’s property and bills. If I wasn’t able to drive then I wouldn’t be able to afford [them]. I might not have a girlfriend.”
Magistrates let Cassidy, whose partner Hannah is a teacher, keep his licence following his latest speeding incident, in February.
Chairman George White added: “You’re very lucky. If you do it again you might not have a job or home.”
Cassidy, of Denton in Tameside, Greater Manchester, must pay a £115 fine and costs of £115. He will have nine points on his licence.
