JACK TOLD ‘STAY FOR LESS PAY’

- BY JOHN CROSS

JACK WILSHERE has been left with a huge dilemma after finally being offered a new contract – but Arsenal have asked him to take a pay cut.

As revealed by Mirror Sport last month, the Gunners want to base the new deal on incentives and pay-asyou-play because of Wilshere’s injury record.

But it has still come in lower than expected and it may come as a surprise to the club’s fans, following his remarkable return to form.

The 26-year-old is currently on a basic salary of around £110,000 a week, with various add-ons, and that deal expires at the end of the season.

Arsenal are now offering around £90,000 a week, plus various bonuses based on appearances, success and incentives.

They are confident that, if Wilshere (above) plays regularly, he will earn significantly more and hope he will sign.

The Gunners midfielder has made it clear that he wants to stay at the Emirates and the club know his wishes – and are waiting for an answer.

They are also still hopeful of getting Mesut Ozil to sign a new contract, having already offered the German star a £275,000-a-week deal.
