Ambulance delays ‘kill 20 over 12 days’

-

TWENTY people died over 12 days due to ambulances arriving late, MPs were told.

The alleged deaths were blamed on a delay by East of England ambulance service in moving into its highest state of emergency, Labour MP Clive Lewis said.

He told the Commons: “Senior operational managers wanted to move to REAP 4... That decision was not taken until some 12 days later. I’ve been informed during this period that 20 people died.” Unison wants an inquiry. The ambulance Trust said: “We always monitor demand and capacity and take necessary actions.”
