Outcry over rail bailout
EIGHT in 10 people strenuously oppose the Tory bailout of the troubled East Coast rail line.
They say letting Virgin and Stagecoach end their contract three years early is wrong.
Opposition to the move, which could cost the Treasury £2billion in lost payments, was revealed in a poll by campaign groups We Own It and Left Foot Forward.
Cat Hobbs, from We Own It, said yesterday: “Whether it’s Carillion or Virgin, it’s the same old story.
“Private companies grab profit while they can and leave the public to pick up the pieces.”
