Last Jedi hits all-time top 10 with £80m

- BY IAN JONES

THE latest Star Wars film has shrugged off its critics to hit the top 10 of biggest films ever in the UK.

The Last Jedi has now taken £79.9million at the box office – enough to put it at number 10.

That is just behind 1975 horror Jaws (£80.6million, with inflation) and 2010’s Toy Story 3 (£81.2million).

Despite dividing opinion since its December release, The Last Jedi added £1.7million to its UK box office total last weekend.

And even if ticket sales dip, the film is likely to move further up the top 10.

But there seems little chance of it matching the success of its predecessor in the Star Wars franchise, 2015’s The Force Awakens.

That took £125.4million – and is the biggest film of all time in the UK.
