Bannon wins deal on probe

DONALD Trump’s ex-chief strategist is said to have struck a deal to avoid taking the stand in the probe into Russian meddling in the US election.

It means Steve Bannon will be questioned only by US Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team rather than facing a Grand Jury grilling.

Bannon recently fell out with the President after being quoted in a book saying Donald Trump Jr’s meetings with Russians were “treasonous”.
