‘Terror’ of the LJY showbiz blackmailer
POLICE are continuing to investigate a blackmailer who demanded £50,000 from a well-known showbiz figure identified only as LJY after alleging he committed a “very serious” offence against a woman.
The probe was revealed by a judge after he was told the victim had run up bills of over £25,000 on a legal order to protect himself.
He said whoever was responsible would pick up those bills if traced. Last month a judge made an order barring publication of the allegations.
At a follow-up hearing in the High Court yesterday Mr Justice Nicklin called the blackmailer’s behaviour “extraordinary” and added: “Somebody has set out to terrify an individual by making threats in order to extort money.”
