‘Scams lure’ for hols Brits
BRIT tourists were “guaranteed” at least £2,500 each for making fake food poisoning claims, Spanish police revealed yesterday.
Detectives probing an alleged £10million-a-year scam said those who signed up with UK-based firms were promised 40% of compensation payouts.
The disclosures came as a judge in Spain opened sealed case files and asked British authorities for help.
Last year a couple from Merseyside were jailed for trying to con £20,000 from travel firm Thomas Cook.
