Beach hut fetches record £295k
A BEACH hut with no toilet or mains electricity has sold for a record £295,000.
The 21ft by 10ft wooden cabin on Mudeford Spit in Christchurch, Dorset, sits on the water’s edge and has spectacular views across Christchurch Bay to the Isle of Wight and the Needles.
The sandbank can only be accessed by a 20-minute walk, novelty train or ferry.
Last summer a hut there went on the market for a previous record of £280,000 – but Hut 413, which can comfortably sleep six, has now smashed that figure.
The sum could buy a six-bed terrace house in Southport or a three-bedroom detached with a large garden in Lincoln.
The spit has around 350 beach huts, some of which have been in the same family for decades. They rarely come on the market and are quickly snapped up.
