Cleanse Tories of tsars like Bradley

- FIONA PARKER Edited by

THERESA May should sack Ben Bradley. His remarks about the unemployed being “wasters” who should have vasectomies stink of the abhorrent Nazi doctrine of eugenics.

But May hasn’t got the bottle to sack either him or her health secretary Jeremy Hunt.

My grandfather died in the First World War and my father fought in the second one – and they didn’t fight for this country to see people with views like Ben Bradley in power.

The Tories are a disgrace – all they want to do is put down the poor. John Stretch, Runcorn, Cheshire # Newly-promoted Tory youth tsar Ben Bradley’s comments about vasectomies for the unemployed will hardly win him many young fans.

People are in and out of work all the time, as work today is so insecure, but the Tory mindset remains the same.

If you are jobless at any time in your life, you suddenly transform overnight from a hard-working taxpayer into a scrounger and

a layabout. Stephen Dixon Redcar, North Yorks # The whole idea of social cleansing seems to run deep in the heart of the Tory right wing. It appears to me that some of these prominent Conservative figures feel more able to make their ideas known since the Brexit vote. It makes me very fearful of what might happen to human rights in the UK without the influence of the rest of Europe. Shirley Dawson, Bristol # Ben Bradley advocated on his blog that poor people should have vasectomies to prevent the UK “drowning in a vast sea of unemployed wasters”. Modern Toryism seems much taken with the filthy and discredited racist doctrine of eugenics. Sasha Simic North London # The remarks Conservative vice chair Ben Bradley made are undoubtedly callous, but I can see his point. Surely people who can’t afford children shouldn’t have them? Mark Taha, South East London # I wonder what punishment the callous Ben Bradley has in mind for those families he deems to have too many children already?

Perhaps working in t’mill 12 hours a day, seven days a week with just Christmas Day off ?

We will never get rid of his type, but we sure can vote Conservatives into oblivion. Bring on the next inevitable election – very, very, soon. Alan Baber, Weston-super-Mare Somerset # Tory MP for Mansfield Ben Bradley is another example of a Conservative who hasn’t a clue what he’s doing. Hasn’t anyone told him all non-urgent hospital operations have been cancelled because of the winter NHS crisis? P Bird, Coventry # The Tory Party seems to be going the way of eugenics. Could it be soon you will have to prove your income in order to be allowed to have kids? Pete West, Sunderland

Reading the story about Bill Gates giving £55million to Nigeria to help it fight polio and £27billion in total to charities (Mirror, Jan 16) is such a profound contrast to the obscene greed and selfinterest of Carillion’s bosses, headlined on your front page. Perhaps both stories should have been placed side by side. No more words would have been necessary. Keith Longmore Ashwellthorpe, Norfolk #

Being an Arsenal supporter should come with a health warning with all the ups and downs.

Whether it’s the manager or the board, the decisions are terrible.

Their selling of players without replacements happens every January transfer window, while other clubs sense the desperation and raise prices. Arsenal do not deserve fans’ loyalty. D Hughesdon South London
