PUNTERS‘ ALERT OVER WIND OPS
RACING’S rulers have warned punters that surgery to a horse’s breathing does not guarantee an improved performance as wind operations became public knowledge today.
Four horses — Lucinda Russell’s (above) Dancing Amy (1.45 Musselburgh), Dr Hooves (4.00 Musselburgh), Wimple (4.00 Musselburgh) and Alberobello (3.20 Chepstow) — are listed as having had operations since their last run.
BHA Director of Equine Health and Welfare David Sykes said: “In many cases, a wind operation will not bring about any improvement. On occasions, though, it certainly does, and that is why it should be in the public domain.“
