MANCHESTER UNITED are heading a four-way battle for £35million Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri.
United, Liverpool and Chelsea are all looking at the Ivory Coast central midfielder, with Manchester City also poised to join the chase.
Seri was set to join Barcelona last summer, but that fell through, while Paris Saint-Germain were unable to sign him, due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.
The 26-year-old has a £35m release clause in his Nice contract, which has 18 months left to run.
Sources close to Seri say he wants to move to the Premier League. United will lose Michael Carrick this summer and are looking for a replacement in central midfield. Liverpool are also on the lookout, with Emre Can poised to leave and Jordan Henderson too injury-prone.
Chelsea are in contention too, with serious doubts over the worth of summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko, who has failed to deliver, following his £40m switch from Monaco.
Premier League leaders City will lose Yaya Toure this summer and want to sign a central midfield successor to Fernandinho, but they would prefer to wait until the summer.
Although Seri has played in the Europa League for Nice, he still remains eligible to feature in the Champions League.
