Coca-Cola: It’s the recycle thing
COCA-COLA has joined the fight on plastic waste with a vow that its bottles will be made of 50% recycled material by 2030.
The soft drinks giant also pledged to collect one bottle or can for every one it sells. Coca- Cola produces 110 billion bottles a year. Boss James Quincey said: “A litter-free world is possible.”
It comes after Evian pledged its water bottles would be 100% recycled plastic by 2025.
Greenpeace said Coca-Cola’s plans did not go far enough and called for the firm to find alternatives to single-use plastic.
Campaigner Tisha Brown said: “Support for recycling is important but it won’t solve the ocean plastic problem.”
