MPs OK new stalking law

NEW police powers to tackle stalking have got the backing of MPs.

A bill to create protection orders cleared a Commons vote ahead of committee scrutiny.

At present police use domestic abuse laws but they can only curb behaviour of partners or exes.

Labour’s Sarah Champion said the orders could be the “difference between life and death”.
