Teen targeted US over ‘corruption’
A BRITISH teenager hacked a CIA spymaster’s email in a campaign of harassment sparked by his belief the US government was corrupt.
Lottery winner’s son Kane Gamble was 15 when he targeted John Brennan.
He also stalked his wife by bombarding her iPad with terror films and filth and calling her at home, a court heard.
Gamble, now 18, who targeted various other US chiefs, got hold of contacts and sensitive papers about operations in Iraq and Afghanistan during his campaign from 2015 to 2016.
He also hacked FBI deputy director Mark Giuliano with threats taken so seriously police sent armed officers to protect him. Gamble, who has autism, said he targeted the US government because he said it was “corrupt and cold-blooded”.
He felt “particularly strongly” about US-backed Israeli violence on Palestinians and the shooting of black Americans by police. Gamble posted his threats as a member of Crackas With Attitude, a group he formed. He boasted on Twitter: “You are about to witness the strength of CWA. Step your game up homies we own everything of you.”
After taking control of another computer, he threatened: “You will lose everything if the US army does not stop killing innocent civilians.” The youngster directed his attacks from the bedroom of mum Ann’s council house in Coalville, Leics, the Old Bailey heard. Prosecutor John Lloyd-Jones QC told the court: “He made numerous calls to the Brennan family home. At one stage he was speaking to Cathy while she was on the phone to AOL to report her account had been compromised.”
Gamble had earlier pleaded guilty to eight charges of performing a function with intent to secure unauthorised access. He will be sentenced later.
Ann, 55, who sat beside her son during the hearing, scooped her lottery win in 1997 but blew it on property deals.
