TIZZ: BANK ON RIVER

- BY DAVID YATES

COLIN TIZZARD has urged punters not to forget Native River for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The eight-year-old is a 10-1 shot for jump racing’s blue ribbon event on 16 March after failing to make the racecourse this season.

But Tizzard (right) reckons his star has “a bloody good chance” of going two places better after finishing third to Sizing John last March.

“He’ll have another racecourse gallop and then go for the Denman Chase at Newbury [on February 10] which he won last year,” said Tizzard.

“We’ve got this plan to go to the Gold Cup on his second run. When we got beat last year we thought perhaps he had been to the well too many times. “He looks fit at home and we’re very happy with him. “If we can get him there in good form we’ve got a bloody good chance.”
