JAVI GRACIA takes over as Watford’s 10th manager in six years today – and his first task will be to placate unhappy £40million asset Richarlison.

JAMES McCARTHY will have surgery today on his double leg break as he begins the lengthy haul back to fitness. facTinhge uEpvetrotoanymeaidr foienldtheer is sidelines after his horrific injury at Goodison on Saturday, which saw him suffer a compound fracture of his right leg.

Boss Sam Allardyce confirmed the Republic of Ireland international will miss the rest of the current campaign and much of next season, following the freak accident which saw him suffer breaks to his tibia and fibula.

McCarthy took a kick on his calf when he bravely got a last-ditch touch to deny West Brom striker Salomon Rondon a shot on goal, and with his studs caught in the turf, the impact snapped his leg.

Blues defender Ashley Williams knew immediately McCarthy had suffered a devastating injury, saying: “You could tell the way he grabbed his ankle. There is disbelief.”
