THE ENGINE ROOM OF FOOTBALL BAD DAD MADE ME MAD
Hazard’s stern words with father over Real deal rumours
EDEN HAZARD revealed he gave his father a telling off after he claimed the Chelsea winger was holding out for a move to Real Madrid.
Thierry Hazard said last month his son had refused a new deal to keep his options open in case the Spanish club moved for him. But after scoring twice in a 4-0 win at Brighton, Hazard said: “My dad says some bad things.” Asked if Hazard senior (below, with Eden) was in trouble, the 27-year-old said: “Yeah. I talked with him, no worries.” Hazard’s current deal at Chelsea
ends in 2020. The Blues insist no new offer has been made, but when negotiations do start they will be ready to table at least £300,000a-week to try to persuade the Belgium international to stay.
He added: “I’m focused with Chelsea. I’ve got two years of my contract left and I’m happy here. Like I said 10 times before, I want to finish this year and then we’ll see. But I’m happy here.”
