HODGSON’S STAND OVER ‘DIVER’ WILF

- BY JOHN CROSS

ROY HODGSON has admitted he is “concerned” about Wilfried Zaha having a reputation as a diver. Zaha (above) was left fuming on several occasions after going down and not getting decisions from referee Chris Kavanagh. It infuriated the Palace bench and Hodgson believes it is a backlash from Zaha being in the spotlight after he won a controversial late penalty against Manchester City last month. The Palace boss said: “Of course we’re concerned about it. I won’t call it a campaign, but so much has been written and said, in particular after the Man City game where we got a late penalty. “I’m afraid that we have to live with that. I think it’s unfair, of course – I thought there were several occasions when he was fouled and unbalanced and we didn’t get the free-kicks. “You can’t influence these type of moments in time when the thing to do is to criticise a player. “It’s human nature, if you know you are not cheating and you are actually being fouled or unbalanced in an unfair way, it’s all very well for me to say, ‘You’ve got to put up with that,’ but it’s difficult when you are on the field – people are emotional beings.”
