Just like the Cornish medic, Warren Thompson is convinced the rest of the world is against him. Also like the doc, he is buoyed by the love of a good woman.

Warren’s partner, Anne, always manages to see the good in him – despite his insistence on always knowing best and always speaking his mind. A terrible combo.

Clunes says the script for the BBC1 comedy, written by Paul McKenna and Jimmy Donny Cosgrove, was “just so funny” he couldn’t resist it, even though he didn’t want to do another sitcom.
