Wenger: Alexis’ switch to United is all about money

ARSENE WENGER has insisted Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United is all about money.

The Arsenal boss said the 29-year-old switched from the Emirates to Old Trafford for one last pay day and the fact even Manchester City could not afford him proves it.

Sanchez will be paid £400,000 a week, plus a £15million signing-on fee, in a

four-and-a-half year deal which will make him the Premier League’s top earner.

Wenger said: “I can’t understand anybody wanting to leave Arsenal, but in 30 years of doing transfers you learn a lot about human beings. It was perhaps his last contract at the top level.

“We went as far as we could. Even Manchester City moved out in the end. That tells you we had no chance.”

Arsenal will get United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan with Sanchez going to Old Trafford.
