Only a ‘yes’ gives consent

ANOTHER week, another dollop of advice for women about how they should avoid getting raped.

In recent months we’ve been warned once again not to wear short skirts or get drunk, then there’s to not ever exchange sexual messages or pictures.

And now Alison Saunders says we should remember to say “no” at the time to ensure lack of consent is clear. But the reality of rape is far more complex than Miss Saunders is admitting here.

And if she wants to dish out advice, perhaps she could try with this simple lesson to men (for a change): Keep your penis in your pants unless she says “yes”.
