Watching so much pain and suffering, from both patients and relatives, can be quite gruelling. But there’s a reason this series is so compelling – it’s all the drama of life, loss and love unfolding in one building every day.

And, of course, you’ll want to know the outcome for every patient that is rushed through the doors of St George’s Hospital in London.

In another tough episode, Gary, 50, ITV, 7.30pm

THE nation gasped when vengeful Doctor Foster romped with her cheating ex in the kitchen.

is brought in by ambulance after a garage collapsed crushing his legs. He tells his wife Peta how it happened as a metal strut hit him.

Meanwhile, Maggie, 83, comes in to A&E with suspected sepsis. She also has lung cancer.

And there’s panic for mum Sabrina when her one-year-old lad George drinks nail varnish remover. Doctors run tests to see if he has any internal injuries, while Sabrina tells of the health problems her eldest son Liam had as a baby.
