Kate: One in four mums hit by blues
THE pregnant Duchess of Cambridge has opened her heart on the trauma of baby blues.
On a visit yesterday to a unit which cares for mums who become mentally-ill, Kate said of motherhood: “There’s an expectation you’re going to be super happy all the time. One in four of us aren’t.”
The Duchess, 36, added: “The research is there, but actually it’s getting the awareness out there for mothers to take it [help].”
It is not clear if she was speaking about her own experiences when she made the comments.
The psychiatric unit she visited at Bethlem Royal Hospital, in Beckenham, South London, ensures mums stay with their tots during treatment.
