Gong for girl, 10, who saw off raid thug
A GIRL of 10 who chased a burglar out of her home and held on to his leg as he clambered a fence has won a police bravery award.
Robyn Birdsell found the raider filling a rucksack with valuables and yelled: “Oi, give us our stuff back.”
The yob escaped after twisting Robyn’s arm and pinning her against a wall.
But her detailed description meant he was found and jailed for four years.
Mum Rachel, of Sutton Coldfield, West Mids, said after the Chief Constable’s Young Person Award: “We’re immensely proud.”
Chief Const Dave Thompson called her actions last June an “incredible feat of bravery for one so young”.
He added: “If she chose a career in policing she would be a huge success.”
