Brumas brought back memories

SUSAN POWELL NICK GUNNING CUDDLY Brumas with his mum Ivy Thanks for your story about Brumas the polar bear (Mirror, Jan 19). I still have my Daily Graphic Annual Zoo Book about Brumas, his mum Ivy, born in Hanover Zoo, and his dad, Mischa, who was found on an ice floe in the Arctic in 1935.

Brumas was named after two of his keepers, Bruce Smith and Sam Giddins. I followed this cub throughout his life and have loved polar bears ever since. I am in awe of these majestic animals. Elaine Meadows, Yarm, North Yorks
