Scholes in Giggs plan for Wales

- FROM JOHN CROSS

RYAN GIGGS has admitted he is talking to Paul Scholes as he looks to complete his backroom team.

Giggs wants his ex-Manchester United team-mate to join his staff after Wales were paired with Denmark and Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Nations League draw.

Wales boss Giggs said: “I speak to Scholesy all the time! I saw him on Saturday at Salford City – but I am talking to lots of people.

“It is a balance about getting experience, fresh ideas – someone who can improve the Welsh team. It is my first job so if you have someone with experience, it is a bonus.

“We are getting there with the coaching team – only Tony Roberts as goalkeeper coach will carry on, someone I know well from my playing career with Wales.”

But Giggs will face another former United team-mate in Roy Keane as he is Martin O’Neill’s No.2 with Republic of Ireland.

Giggs added: “It will be good to pick my brains against Martin and Roy, two people I know well. I am excited.”
