LIDL is the latest supermarket to back the Mirror’s call for a ban on energy drink sales to under-16s.

It joins Aldi, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose in introducing a voluntary age restriction on drinks with more than 150mg of caffeine per litre.

The ban starts on March 1 and Lidl said: “We recognise customers’ concerns around energy drinks.”
