UKIP is probably finished as a credible political party after the Henry Bolton affair.

He may refuse to resign, but I think the game is up. Nigel Farage was at least charismati­c and he also panicked David Cameron into calling a referendum over Europe.

Now the damage has been done, Cameron has disappeare­d and Farage seems to be backtracki­ng.

It’s quite obvious that the fines issued for using a mobile phone while driving are no deterrent. There should be an automatic driving ban and a fine of up to £5,000, then maybe drivers will put the phone away when driving.

What an interestin­g column by Graham Hiscott on how the world’s richest 1% raked in more than 80% of all the wealth created last year (Mirror, Jan 22).

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Oxfam’s Mark Goldring said we have a system failing the millions of hard-working people on poverty wages.
