NICKY Campbell is the latest BBC star to take a pay cut of up to 30% amid the gender gap controversy.

The Radio 5 Live Breakfast host confirmed the move on-air after a news story about male presenters was read out.

He confirmed he was also on the list, adding: “It’s very civilised and collegiate.”

The Mirror revealed yesterday that John Humphrys, Huw Edwards, Nick Robinson and Jon Sopel have agreed to pay cuts.

Campbell was listed last year as earning £400,000 to £449,999 for 5 Live and other radio and TV work, including The Big Questions.

His 5 Live co-host Rachel Burden revealed she earned around £130,000 and it is thought Campbell’s salary will now be similar to hers, and he will earn a total of around £300,000 Meanwhile, Radio 2 host Jeremy Vine, on up to £749,999 a year, also confirmed a pay cut. He said: “It needs to be sorted out and I support my female colleagues who have rightly said they should be paid the same when they are doing the same job. “It is just a no-brainer, so it wasn’t a problem for me to accept one.” The BBC said: “We are very grateful to Huw Edwards, Nicky Campbell, John Humphrys, Jon Sopel, Nick Robinson, and Jeremy Vine, who have agreed that their pay will now be reduced. “The final details of some of these changes are still being discussed.”
