Victims dash release hope for Worboys

- BY TOM PETTIFOR

RAPIST John Worboys’ release has been blocked after victims won the first round of a legal battle to keep him in prison.

Two victims want a judicial review of the Parole Board’s decision to free the black cab rapist, blamed for as many as 100 attacks.

At the High Court, Mr Justice Supperstone yesterday ordered a second hearing next month and ruled that Worboys must stay in jail until then.

Later, the victims’ lawyer Harriet Wistrich said: “They will be delighted. They feel under a duty to do all they can to keep him off the streets.”

Ms Wistrich said the bid to block Worboys’ release, expected at the end of this month, went unopposed by the Parole Board and Ministry of Justice.
