BATTLERS HALEP AND WOZ FIGHTING FOR FIRST SLAM
SIMONA HALEP and Caroline Wozniacki have held their nerves already at this Australian Open.
Now one of them will finally win their first Grand Slam after saving a host of match points.
The winner will also become world No.1 in the first final between two non-Slam winners since Hana Mandlikova beat home favourite Wendy Turnbull in 1980.
Top seed Halep faced three match points as she battled back from a set down against American Lauren Davis in the third round.
The Romanian saved two more in a classic semi-final against Angelique Kerber.
Wozniacki also saved two match points and clawed back from 5-1 down against Croatia’s Jana Fett.
Halep said: “It’s going to be a tough one.
“Emotions are there. Pressures are there for both of us.”
