Surviving gives new lease of life
SURVIVING pancreatic cancer has given retired lab manager Peter Breaden a different outlook on life.
Following his diagnosis and surgery in 2010, Peter, 68, from Southport, Merseyside, took part in ESPAC-4, a Cancer Research UK-funded clinical trial that has led to a call for a new standard treatment for people with pancreatic cancer who have had surgery.
Now Peter is planning a family party for his wife’s “special” birthday along with their three children and nine grandchildren.
He said: “After you’ve survived cancer, you do get a slightly different outlook. I feel very fortunate to be alive and am determined to enjoy life with my family.”
