TOM’S FLYING ON A TRYING DAY FOR BORO

- BY LINDSAY SUTTON

TOM TRYBULL signed a new contract at Norwich and then scored the winner – yet it was not quite the perfect day for the German midfielder.

His long-range goal just before the break came not long after he had put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal.

But he was forced off with an ankle injury on the hour.

“It was a good day for everybody,” said Trybull (above).

“At the end I’m a little sad because I couldn’t play the whole 90 minutes because of my ankle injury.

“A new contract is good, we won which is also fine and I’m really happy for the crowd.

“The goal before half-time was very important for our selfconfidence. It was important and it was a good sign for the whole stadium that we were still good in the game.

“I just tried to shoot. I was a bit annoyed with the situation because we played a lot around the defence of Middlesbrough. That’s why I decided to shoot. The goal was OK.

“I appreciate I got the chance to play at this club. I’m happy to be a part of this team and I give my all.”

Norwich were helped by Rudy Gestede’s red card for a 28th-minute lunge at Grant Hanley, a decision Boro boss Tony Pulis will appeal against.

Captain Grant Leadbitter said: “The sending off killed the game and they got a goal that we’re really disappointed with.” THE booing from the home fans made the decision easy for the Leeds board.
