Mix-tapes and VHS are our top retro cravings
MAKING mix-tapes, putting photos in albums and using VHS recorders are the three things we miss doing most since the digital revolution.
Researchers also found we get wistful about owning a CD collection and an encyclopaedia, sending love letters and having pen friends.
But the poll of 2,000 people also revealed that there are some things we do not miss – like queueing in a post office to buy car tax.
The study found the average adult spends four hours a day on the internet, with almost one in five admitting they are never more than a few feet from an internet-enabled device.
More than 10% admit they would feel lost if they were unable to go online, while 26% would feel completely cut off.
The study, commissioned by British Airways to mark the launch of wi-fi enabled flights, also found 58% reckon the majority of their activities now rely heavily on technology.
And 54% admit it is important to have wi-fi when travelling to keep them “in touch”.
BA’s Carolina Martinoli said: “Technology and the internet has evolved so much in recent years tasks we once considered to be regular parts of our day are now done for us online. The results show how dependant we’ve become on the internet and being connected at all times – even while travelling.”
